The Human Fruit Machine Lights Up the Scarborough Annual Review
More than 1,300 Trefoil members from across the UK arrived in Scarborough for this year’s Annual Review. As we set up the Anglia stand, we knew we’d created something that would rival the fun of last year’s Trefoil boat race.
That’s how we ended up creating our very own Human Fruit Machine.
By the time the event began, our three bright frames — Human, Fruit and Machine — were ready, and so were we. With every “spin”, our volunteers sprang into action, revealing props, moving in sync and filling the room with laughter. What started as a playful idea quickly became one of the most popular attractions of the day.
Crowds gathered, people stayed for multiple rounds, and members from every region stopped to watch, chat and join in. Our stand became a natural meeting point — a place where friendships formed, conversations flowed and the Trefoil spirit shone through, all made possible by the dedication of those who helped run it.
The photos capture it perfectly: the colour, the teamwork, the joy on everyone’s faces. Our Human Fruit Machine wasn’t just entertainment — it was a celebration of everything Trefoil stands for: finding friendship, getting support, getting involved and getting active.
Thank you to the volunteers who generously gave up their time to help plan the display and staff the stand, we were able to bring that idea to life.
